Welcome to Family Radar ("the App", "we", "us", or "our"). Family Radar is a family location sharing application that helps you safely share location information with your family members. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our services.

2Information We Collect

2.1 Location Information

To provide location sharing services, we collect and process location information, including:

  • Real-time location data: GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude), timestamps, and movement direction
  • Location history: A limited history of location points (up to 1,000 records) used to display movement paths on the map
  • Update frequency: Location updates are adjusted automatically based on movement status (e.g., stationary, walking, cycling, driving)
  • Background updates: Location may continue to update in the background to keep sharing and history in sync

Purpose of use:

  • Display your location and family members' locations on the map
  • Share location information with members of circles you actively join (you can choose to join or leave circles at any time)
  • Record and display your location history for your review
  • Provide location-related notifications

Permissions:

  • The App requests "Always Allow Location Access" to enable continuous location updates and sharing, including when the App runs in the background, ensuring your location can be shared in real-time with authorized family members
  • You may modify or revoke location permissions at any time in your device system settings

2.2 Account and User Information

  • User identifier: A unique identifier generated based on your iCloud account
  • Display name: A name you choose (default is the device name)
  • Device information: Device name and model
  • Battery status: Device battery level percentage

Purpose of use:

  • Identify users within a circle
  • Display member information to authorized circle members
  • Help family members understand device status

2.3 Circle Information

  • Circle data: Circle name, invitation code, member list
  • Member relationships: Associations between circle members
  • Timestamps: Creation and join times

Purpose of use:

  • Manage family circles
  • Control the scope of location sharing
  • Enable invitation and member management features

2.4 App Usage Data

We use Facebook SDK to collect the following information to improve app experience:

  • App events: Automatically recorded events such as app launches, activations, and usage duration
  • Anonymous identifiers: Anonymous user IDs generated by Facebook
  • Device identifiers: Device identifiers used for app analytics and performance monitoring

Purpose of use:

  • Analyze app usage patterns
  • Improve app functionality and user experience
  • Monitor app performance

2.5 Notifications

  • Notification permission status: Used to receive location update notifications and circle-related notifications
  • Notification content: Location update reminders, member join/leave notifications, etc.

  • Deliver location-related alerts
  • Notify users of circle member activity

2.6 Auto-Renewable Subscription Service

When you purchase a membership subscription, the payment will be charged to your Apple ID account. The available plans are as follows:

Cancellation: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your iOS device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

3Data Storage and Security

3.1 Storage Location

  • On-device storage: Some data (such as recent location history) may be stored locally on your device
  • iCloud (CloudKit): Core data such as circle information, member data, and location information are stored and synchronized via Apple iCloud

3.2 Data Retention

  • Location history is limited to a maximum of 1,000 records and older data is automatically deleted when the limit is exceeded
  • Circle and user data are retained until you leave a circle or delete the App

3.3 Data Security Measures

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission: All data transmission uses encryption protocols (HTTPS/TLS)
  • iCloud security: Data stored in Apple iCloud benefits from Apple's security protections
  • Access controls: Only you and authorized circle members can access relevant location information
  • Permission management: Permission verification based on iCloud accounts

4Information Sharing

4.1 Sharing Within Circles

  • Your location and basic profile information are shared only with members of circles you actively join (this is a core feature of the App)
  • Circle members can view your real-time location, location history, and basic information
  • You may stop sharing location data at any time by leaving a circle
  • Location sharing is completely under your control—you choose which family members to share your location with

We rely on the following service providers to operate the App:

Facebook (Meta)

Apple iCloud / CloudKit

  • Shared content: Circle data, member information, location information
  • Purpose: Data storage and synchronization

4.3 Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the App.

5Your Rights and Choices

Depending on applicable laws, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: View your personal and location information, including location history and circle information
  • Correction: Update your display name or circle information
  • Deletion: Delete location history, leave or delete circles
  • Withdrawal of consent: Disable permissions such as location or notifications in system settings, or stop location sharing by leaving circles
  • Data portability: Export data via iCloud where supported

Deleting the App removes locally stored data. Data stored in iCloud can be managed or deleted through your iCloud account settings.

6How to Handle the Information of Minors

If you are a minor under the age of 13, it is recommended that you ask your guardian to read this Privacy Policy carefully, and use our services and provide us with information only after obtaining the explicit consent of your guardian.

For the collection of information of minors with the consent of the guardian, we will only use, share, transfer, or disclose such information when laws and regulations permit, the guardian expressly agrees, or when it is necessary to protect the minor's information.

If your guardian does not agree for you to use our services or provide us with personal information in accordance with this policy, please stop using our services immediately and notify us.
